The activity encompasses translation, adaptation and pilot delivery of the HELP training module on prevention and protection from violence against women and domestic violence.
The e-learning module on “Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”, developed by the Council of Europe (CoE) within the European Programme for Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (the HELP Programme), presents in an interactive way the key concepts, the international and European legal framework as well as the fundamental judgements and decisions delivered by the European Court of Human Rights in the field of prevention and counteraction to violence against women and domestic violence and protection of victims, focusing in particular on the established CoE standards in this field. A key asset of the module, in terms of its expected contribution to enhancement the practitioner’s qualification, is that it provides the legal professionals with practical tools for dealing with cases of violence against women and domestic violence with respect to a human rights and victim centered approach.
The HELP training module on Violence against Women and Domestic Violence provides for raising the awareness of legal professionals from the CoE member states with regard to the recognized international standards for prevention and protection in this field but at the same time it offers a detailed and comprehensive curriculum, aimed at improving the quality of the judicial response in violence against women cases and supporting the access to justice for victims of violence.
The training is primarily addressed to judges, prosecutors, investigating magistrates and court staff, candidates for junior magistrates, but also to other legal professionals and experts from competent institutions. The organization of the e-learning training module for a mixed group of trainees would contribute to the exchange of practices and experience among professionals from different institutions as well as to strengthening the mutual understanding and cooperation among them.
It is envisaged a face-to-face or a virtual kick-off meeting to the pilot adapted edition of the HELP e-learning module to be held under the project, during which issues related to the substantive, methodological and organizational aspects of the course will be discussed.
The translation to Bulgarian of the training materials for the specified HELP module will be carried out under the CoE project “HELP in the EU II”, co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe.
Activity outcome:
- Translated, adapted and delivered HELP e-learning module on prevention and protection from violence against women and domestic violence for legal professionals with a face-to face or a virtual kick-off meeting to it;
