Newly developed Case management guide on DGBV-issues for magistrates

At the end of March 2023, the National Institute of Justice developed a handbook for the management of domestic and gender-based violence cases for magistrates in the framework of Activity 1 under the project “Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence”, implemented with the support of the Justice Programme of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (NFM) 2014-2021. The Case management guide integrates European standards in this area and provides guidance on how to deal effectively with such cases with a view to ensuring consistency of the jurisprudence. Drawn up by a team of national and international experts with in-depth knowledge and experience in the field, the Guide presents the problems and challenges identified in investigating and resolving domestic violence cases and proposes possible solutions in the light of existing legislation and the courts’ case-law in such cases.

The Case management guide on DGBV-issues will be formally presented on June 13th, 2023 to representatives of the professional community and experts of institutions with competence in the field, at a public event organized for this purpose, which will be attended also by the national and international experts involved in its development. It is envisaged that the Guide will be available in electronic format and printed in a print run of up to 1 000 copies. The Guide in Bulgarian is available here. If you have comments and recommendations on its content, you can send them to us by e-mail to: k.kirilova@nij.bg by May 25th, 2023, to take them into account at its official presentation.
